Moderated comments, author responses, replication, and evidence-based scholarly correction

Permitted Forms

• Comment or Letter: a referenced critique, clarification, alternative interpretation, methodological comment, or relevant extension concerning a published JPM article.
• Author Response: a focused response from the original author or authors to an accepted comment.
• Replication or substantial new evidence: a full manuscript submitted through the ordinary editorial and peer-review process.
• Correction or integrity concern: a demonstrable error follows Corrections and Errata; suspected misconduct follows Research Misconduct and Allegation Handling.

Submission Requirements

Submit through OJS or the official contact route and identify the article title and DOI, the exact point being addressed, evidence and references, authorship and contributions, funding, conflicts, relevant data availability, and any AI use. Comments must focus on the scholarship, avoid personal attacks, protect confidential or personal information, and comply with legal and ethical requirements.

Editorial Process

1. An unconflicted editor screens relevance, originality, evidence, tone, privacy, legal risk, conflicts, and the correct policy route.
2. The original authors are normally invited to respond within 14 calendar days or another stated period; non-response does not automatically prevent publication of a supported comment.
3. Substantive comments and responses may undergo independent peer review. The editor may request revision, additional evidence, or consolidation of overlapping correspondence.
4. Accepted items are published as separate citable records and linked bidirectionally to the original article; a DOI is assigned where the platform and publication type support it.
5. Moderation prevents abuse, repetition, unsupported allegations, promotional content, and disclosure of confidential material without suppressing legitimate scientific criticism.
