Program KKN-T Sebagai Wujud Pengabdian Masyarakat: Peningkatan Kebersihan Lingkungan di Kelurahan Pematang Gubernur

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness issues in Pematang Gubernur Village are still influenced by the habit of littering, a lack of supporting facilities, and low discipline in carrying out community service activities. This community service program aims to increase community participation through mutual cooperation in creating a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment. The methods applied consist of a preparation stage (coordinating with village officials and community leaders, identifying points prone to waste, and developing a schedule), an implementation stage (providing brief counseling on how to manage household waste, conducting community service to clean drainage channels and public areas, and distributing and using cleaning equipment), and an evaluation stage (observing environmental conditions, documenting, and obtaining feedback from the community). The results of this activity show an increase in community involvement in community service, a reduction in waste accumulation in priority locations, and improvements in the cleanliness of drainage channels to minimize the risk of waterlogging. In addition, the community has begun to carry out simple waste sorting and place waste in agreed-upon collection locations. This program emphasizes that mutual cooperation supported by education and increasing the role of local leaders can effectively encourage behavioral changes in cleanliness. To maintain the sustainability of this program, it is recommended that a regular work schedule be established, that a person in charge be appointed for each area, and that regular monitoring be carried out by the sub-district together with community representatives.
